Jay Bruce expects to see his name on the New York Yankees' Opening Day roster.

"I know that I'm good enough to be on the roster," Bruce said, according to Yankees Videos. "There's no question, personally, about that, in my opinion.

"... If I'm healthy, I'm a good option."

Bruce is off to a hot start for the Bronx Bombers. The veteran outfielder is 4-for-6 with a double and hit his first spring homer during the Yankees' 3-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.

Bruce is competing for a roster spot on New York's bench after the left-handed hitter signed a minor-league contract last month that includes an opt-out option he can exercise on March 25.

Bruce has hit 318 homers during a solid 13-year career, but he also hasn't appeared in more than 100 games since 2017 due to injuries.

Three other left-handed hitting outfielders - Brett Gardner, Mike Tauchman, and Derek Dietrich - are also in the Yankees' camp competing for a similar spot to Bruce.
