Report: Cubs add Sogard on minor-league deal

The Chicago Cubs signed infielder Eric Sogard to a minor-league contract, a source told Jesse Rogers of ESPN.
With Javier Baez at shortstop and Nico Hoerner playing second base, Sogard is expected to compete for a spot on the Cubs' bench.
Sogard is 34, and has been on the Cubs radar several times in the last few years. Played for Milwaukee last year. Replaces that left handed hitting 2b role Jason Kipnis had last year, assuming he makes the team. https://t.co/yOTVyt9WwV

Sogard owns a career .246/.316/.340 slash line with 509 hits over 10 years in the majors. He's played for the Oakland Athletics, Milwaukee Brewers, Toronto Blue Jays, and Tampa Bay Rays.
