Report: Diamondbacks, Clippard agree to 1-year, $2.25M deal

The Arizona Diamondbacks and right-handed reliever Tyler Clippard agreed to a one-year, $2.25-million contract that includes a mutual option for 2022, according to Nick Piecoro of AZ Central.

Clippard, 36, will reportedly earn $1.75 million in 2021, while the option is worth $3.5 million with a $500,000 buyout. The deal also includes performance bonuses, per Piecoro.

A 14-year veteran, Clippard has played for 10 different teams, including last season with the Minnesota Twins. The two-time All-Star posted a 2.77 ERA and 2.65 FIP over 26 innings.

Clippard also spent part of the 2016 season with the Diamondbacks.

Over 777 career appearances, Clippard owns a 3.13 ERA and 3.84 FIP while collecting 68 saves.
