The Colorado Rockies and starting pitcher Antonio Senzatela have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract, the team announced Tuesday.
The deal is worth $3 million, sources told Robert Murray of FanSided.
Senzatela, who turns 26 on Jan. 21, is coming off a solid 2020 campaign that saw him emerge as a leader for the Rockies' pitching staff. The right-hander posted a team-best 3.44 ERA and 153 ERA+ over 12 starts last season, with a 1.21 WHIP and 41 strikeouts. He also allowed just nine homers despite pitching in notoriously hitter-friendly Coors Field.
This is Senzatela's first year of arbitration eligibility. He won't reach free agency until after the 2023 season.
Senzatela is the fourth of 11 eligible Rockies player to avoid arbitration this winter, joining catcher Elias Diaz and relievers Daniel Bard and Jairo Diaz.
