Report: Reds gauging trade interest in Moustakas
Mike Moustakas' tenure with the Cincinnati Reds might be short-lived.
The Reds are gauging trade interest in the infielder, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.
Moustakas is entering the second season of a four-year deal he'd signed with the Reds in December 2019 and is set to earn $48 million over the remainder of his contract, which also includes a $20-million team option for 2024.
The slugger appeared in 44 games and slashed .230/.331/.468 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs last season.
Moustakas hit 182 homers and 561 RBIs for the Kansas City Royals and Milwaukee Brewers before joining Cincinnati. The California native has hit 35 or more home runs twice in a season.
The 32-year-old is the latest name to surface in the Reds' trade rumors.
The franchise has also discussed trading third baseman Eugenio Suarez as well as pitchers Sonny Gray and Luis Castillo, according to reports.
Cincinnati has already traded closer Raisel Iglesias and non-tendered Archie Bradley, Brian Goodwin, and Curt Casali.
