Didi Gregorius wants Major League Baseball to implement a regular schedule for the 2021 campaign.
"(I want to play) 162. We showed last season that we can play through the pandemic," Gregorius said Thursday, according to Amanda Guerra of CBS Sports. "We played all those 60 games that we had to play. The reason why we got to play those 60 games was (because) people were taking care of themselves and each other.
"So, helping each other out, wearing a mask, (and) social distancing. I don't see why it should be shorter again because we proved we could do that in 60 games."
Gregorius, who's a free agent after suiting up for the Philadelphia Phillies last season, is keen to play despite a chronic kidney disease.
Owners and team executives reportedly want the season delayed until May. However, the MLBPA wants spring training to start on time as well as a regular 162-game campaign and full pay for players.
