Report: Angels, Rangers keeping tabs on Happ
The Los Angeles Angels are among multiple teams interested in free-agent pitcher J.A. Happ, a source told Jon Morosi of MLB Network.
New Angels general manager Perry Minasian is familiar with the veteran lefty after their time together with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Texas Rangers are another club exploring the possibility of signing Happ, reports Morosi.
The 38-year-old has pitched in the majors for 14 years, including stints with the Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros, Seattle Mariners, Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees, and Blue Jays. He posted a 3.47 ERA over nine starts with the Bronx Bombers last season.
Los Angeles' pitching staff finished with the third-worst ERA (5.09) in the American League in 2020. Texas' hurlers didn't fare much better after recording a 5.02 ERA.
