Dodgers' Buehler starting Game 3; Urias, Kershaw follow in WS
The Los Angeles Dodgers have set their rotation for the next three games of the World Series.
Right-hander Walker Buehler will start Game 3 against the Tampa Bay Rays, manager Dave Roberts confirmed after Wednesday's contest, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.
Left-hander Julio Urias will follow Buehler in Game 4 and veteran southpaw Clayton Kershaw will start Game 5.
"We feel great," Roberts said about the state of his pitching staff after having used seven pitchers in the Game 2 loss, per Plunkett.
Buehler last pitched in Game 6 of the NLCS when he tossed six shutout frames against the Atlanta Braves. The outing was his longest of the 2020 playoffs. While he's battled some blisters, the 26-year-old has still managed to craft a sparkling 1.89 ERA with 29 strikeouts over his four postseason appearances.
Urias, 24, will be making his first career World Series start. The Mexican southpaw has appeared in four games in the playoffs, including one start, and owns a 0.56 ERA with 16 strikeouts and three walks over 16 innings. Opponents have hit a meager .125/.169/.196 off him this postseason.
Kershaw will return to the hill against the Rays four days after his brilliant performance in the series opener. The 32-year-old struck out eight and allowed just one run over six innings in the Dodgers' Game 1 victory.
Tampa Bay will start right-hander Charlie Morton opposite Buehler in Game 3. The Rays have not named starters for Games 4 or 5.
