The Houston Astros will start right-hander Zack Greinke in Game 4 of the American League Division Series on Thursday, the team announced.
Greinke had been dealing with right arm soreness, but a doctor's visit Wednesday revealed no structural damage.
Astros manager Dusty Baker is unsure how much the 36-year-old will pitch against Oakland and mentioned Cristian Javier "probably" being a part of Houston's pitching plan for Game 4, according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart.
Greinke hasn't pitched since Game 1 of the wild-card series against the Minnesota Twins on Sept. 29. He allowed one earned run and walked three over four innings.
The veteran hurler posted a 4.03 ERA and 2.80 FIP in 12 starts for the Astros during the regular season.
Greinke and the Astros hold a 2-1 advantage over the A's in the best-of-five series and will be opposed by Oakland starter Frankie Montas in Game 4.
