Phillies' Alvarez sidelined with testicle bruise after comebacker

The Philadelphia Phillies placed reliever Jose Alvarez on the 10-day injured list Friday, one day after the left-hander was hit in the groin by a comebacker during a game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Alvarez was diagnosed with a testicular contusion following the scary play Thursday, according to Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

The 31-year-old owns a 1.42 ERA in eight appearances this season.
Philadelphia recalled lefty JoJo Romero to replace Alvarez on the active major-league roster.
