Washington Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg was tossed from Thursday's game against the New York Mets for arguing balls and strikes while sitting in the stands.

Strasburg's ejection came after home plate umpire Carlos Torres called two balls on borderline pitches from Nationals hurler Austin Voth in the bottom of the third inning.

Strasburg tipped his cap after Torres threw him out of the contest:

Nationals manager Dave Martinez acknowledged that he thought the umpire had thrown him out, but then realized Torres ejected Strasburg.

"I love Stephen. I can't tell you what he said, but I love him," Martinez said postgame, according to Mark Zuckerman of MASNsports.com.

Torres' strike zone also bothered the Mets, as the team's dugout screamed in disapproval after slugger Pete Alonso struck out on a questionable strike three call on a 3-2 pitch from Voth in the same inning.
