Report: Monday's Cardinals-Pirates game canceled
Monday's St. Louis Cardinals versus Pittsburgh Pirates game is canceled due to the Cardinals' ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.
The rest of the teams' three-game series hasn't been canceled yet, according to Passan. A decision on those games could be made on Sunday, when the Cardinals may have a better idea about whether they'll be able to play those games.
Three more Cardinals players tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the team's total number of positive tests to 16. The team hasn't played since July 29, and with Monday's game now scrapped, are up to 11 missed contests.
"I don't know what really our future looks like at this point," Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak said earlier Saturday. "I know that we've lost these three games and we'll certainly take this day by day. For all the optimism we had a couple of days ago to be where we are today it's definitely frustrating for everybody involved."
