A reported COVID-19 outbreak within the Miami Marlins prompted Major League Baseball to postpone Monday's game that would have seen the New York Yankees use the same clubhouse to face the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Marlins reportedly had a slew of tests come back positive after their weekend set in Philadelphia. The most recent report from ESPN's Jeff Passan indicates 11 players and two coaches from the club contracted the illness.
The Yankees were scheduled to begin a four-game series at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies apparently began fumigating the visiting clubhouse Monday morning after learning of the Marlins outbreak.
Given its exposure to the Marlins, the Phillies also placed their entire visiting clubhouse staff in quarantine Monday morning and were awaiting COVID-19 test results for several employees, sources told Matt Gelb of The Athletic.
New York reportedly brought its own clubhouse staff to Philadelphia for the series, which appears to be in jeopardy.
In light of the outbreak, MLB postponed the Marlins' scheduled home opener against the Baltimore Orioles.
