The New York Mets signed former All-Star second baseman Brian Dozier and outfielder Juan Lagares and released outfielder Melky Cabrera and infielder Gordon Beckham, the team announced Wednesday, according to Justin Toscano of NorthJersey.com.
The team's player pool is at 57 following the roster moves.
Dozier and Lagares both inked minor-league contracts, sources told Deesah Thosar of the New York Daily News. The former was released by the San Diego Padres on July 11.
Neither player will be on the Mets' Opening Day roster, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, who adds the pair signed under the expectation that they will begin the 2020 campaign at the club's alternate training site in Brooklyn, New York.
Dozier hit 20 home runs with a .771 OPS in 135 games for the Washington Nationals last season. The 33-year-old went deep a career-high 42 times in 2016 while playing for the Minnesota Twins.
