Atlanta Braves left-hander Cole Hamels will open the 2020 MLB campaign on the injured list, manager Brian Snitker announced Sunday, according to David O'Brien of The Athletic.
The veteran hurler has been dealing with triceps tendonitis since July 11.
Hamels, 36, joined the Braves in the offseason after signing a one-year, $18-million deal in free agency. The four-time All-Star owns a career 3.42 ERA across 14 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers, and Chicago Cubs.
Atlanta could use Sean Newcomb or Kyle Wright to fill the void in the starting rotation.
