Cleveland Indians slugger Franmil Reyes was kept away from training camp earlier this week for attending a party without wearing a face mask. While manager Terry Francona said Reyes wasn't "in the penalty box," the outfielder apologized for his behavior Thursday.

"I really apologize," Reyes said, according to Zack Meisel of The Athletic. "I was not protecting myself and my teammates. I learned from it and it won't happen again. I really don't want to stop practicing. I really apologize about that."

Reyes, 25, had to be retested for coronavirus following the party in order to ensure the team's bubble was maintained.

"You have a lot of teammates here that are ready to go," Reyes continued, according to Mandy Bell of MLB.com, "ready to give their 100 percent for the season, and it's really risky when people do things like I was doing on Saturday. I really apologize and I swear it won't happen again."

Cleveland acquired Reyes from the San Diego Padres in a three-team deal prior to last year's trade deadline. In 150 games between the two clubs in 2019, Reyes hit .249/.310/.512 with 37 homers and 81 RBIs.
