San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey hasn't decided if he's playing in 2020.

On Saturday, the 2012 National League MVP said he's leaving the door open to opting out of the upcoming campaign, but he wants to see how things evolve over the next little while before making a decision.

"I think there's still some reservation on my end as well," Posey said, according to KNBR'S Mark W. Sanchez. "I want to see how things progress here over the next couple of weeks.

"I think it would be a little bit naive or silly not to gauge what's going on around you. Not only around you here but paying attention to what's happening in the country and different parts of the country. Obviously unprecedented times right now. Most definitely I've thought about (opting out) and talked about it with my wife quite a bit."

Posey's comments come just after Major League Baseball announced the results of its first round of COVID-19 testing. In total, 31 players and seven staff members tested positive, accounting for 1.2% of the 3,185 tests taken.

Among the notable players who tested positive were Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman, San Diego Padres outfielder Tommy Pham, and Minnesota Twins slugger Miguel Sano. On Posey's team, pitcher Luis Madero tested positive.

The 33-year-old Posey isn't the only player who's undecided about playing this season. Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout said he's also unsure, saying his family's health is a "top priority." Trout's wife, Jessica, is pregnant.

"I'm going to watch what's going on and keep communicating with my wife and pay attention to what's going on around me here at the ballpark and what's going on in the country," Posey added. "I'd be surprised if you asked any player if they gave you a hard-lined, no-way, I'm-not-going-to-opt-out-ever, answer."

Seven players have already opted out of the season, including Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander David Price, who announced his decision on Saturday afternoon.
