New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner said Thursday that he expects to have fans at Yankee Stadium at some point during the shortened 2020 campaign, according to Lindsey Adler of The Athletic.

Steinbrenner acknowledged that he's had many convos with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo about the idea, Adler added.

"Ticketmaster has been great helping us out putting a diagram together which would keep everybody at least six feet apart, and it would be limited," Steinbrenner said, according to Erik Boland of Newsday Sports. "I'm sure it'll be in the 20-30% (capacity) range, hopefully, at first."

Yankee Stadium can seat 54,251 fans, which means 10,850-16,275 spectators would be permitted at 20-30% capacity.

New York state has seen a huge decline in COVID-19 cases after once being the epicenter of the outbreak in the United States. The state reported 875 new cases Wednesday, with 10 deaths related to the disease, according to Cuomo's website.
