San Francisco Giants prospect Hunter Bishop tested positive for COVID-19, president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi announced Monday, according to Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com.
Zaidi said the 22-year-old isn't on the club's initial roster for the 2020 campaign because of the positive result, adds Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area.
The outfielder sat in front of former Arizona State teammate Spencer Torkelson at a house party on June 10, when the latter was selected first overall by the Detroit Tigers in the 2020 MLB Draft, reports Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic.
Bishop is the Giants' No. 4 prospect and the 71st in all of baseball, according to MLB Pipeline. The team took him 10th overall in the 2019 draft.
