Report: MLBPA agrees to report for camps, play 60-game season
The Major League Baseball Players Association agreed Tuesday to report to training camps by July 1 and play a 60-game season, sources told Jeff Passan of ESPN.
However, a return-to-play plan has not been finalized, as both sides still need to agree to health and safety protocols, Passan adds.
MLB and the players have made progress but still haven't reached a deal on the operating protocols, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, who adds that it's uncertain if that agreement will happen Tuesday. However, that didn't stop New York Mets star Pete Alonso from expressing his happy thoughts.

The league announced Monday that ownership from each club voted unanimously to proceed with the 2020 campaign after the players' union rejected the league's final proposal for a 60-game season.
If a 60-game campaign is implemented, it would be the shortest season since 1878. A new MLB season was originally supposed to start March 26 but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
