Philadelphia Phillies reliever Seranthony Dominguez has been recommended Tommy John surgery and is reportedly considering the operation, according to Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Dominguez is currently considering the rest-and-rehabilitation route, Lauber adds. He intends to pursue additional testing if and when spring training resumes.
In 2018, Dominguez authored a 2.95 ERA and 2.85 FIP over 53 appearances while collecting 16 saves. However, the 25-year-old was held to 24 2/3 innings last year while spending time on the injured list with a sprained ulnar collateral ligament.
Dominguez made two appearances this past spring, throwing two perfect innings while striking out a pair.
