The Washington Nationals are bringing Ryan Zimmerman back on a one-year deal worth $2 million with an additional $3 million in performance bonuses, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

Zimmerman, 35, was the first draft selection ever made by the Nationals after the franchise relocated from Montreal; the first baseman was the fourth overall pick in the 2005 draft. Zimmerman wound up making his debut for the Nats the following September.

The two-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger has transitioned to a bench role late in his career and hit .257/.321/.415 with six homers and nine doubles last year over 52 games.
