Report: Carlos Gomez plans to retire as Brewer at start of season
Free-agent outfielder Carlos Gomez will formally announce his retirement from baseball at the beginning of the MLB regular season, according to baseball insider Hector Gomez. He hopes to do so as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Gomez has been playing for the Aguilas Cibaenas of the Dominican Winter League.
A two-time All-Star, Gomez spent parts of six seasons with the Brewers from 2010-15 and batted .267/.325/.452 with 87 home runs, 122 doubles, and 152 stolen bases in 697 games with the club.
He hit .198 with three home runs in 34 contests with the New York Mets in 2019.
Additionally, Gomez spent time with the Minnesota Twins, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers, and Tampa Bay Rays over 13 years in the majors.
He'll finish his career with 145 home runs, 236 doubles, and 268 stolen bases over 1,461 games.
