Report: Bochy not planning to pursue Red Sox, Astros' managerial openings

The Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox are both in need of managers for the 2020 campaign after MLB's report on a sign-stealing scandal took the baseball world by storm earlier this week.

But one person who won't be managing in Houston or Boston next season is Bruce Bochy, who doesn't plan to pursue either managerial opening, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported Thursday.

Following Rosenthal's report on Bochy's intentions, Carlos Beltran stepped down from his managerial position with the New York Mets. It's not known if Bochy would be interested in that position.

The former San Francisco Giants manager was recently included in a reported list of candidates for the Astros' vacancy, joining Buck Showalter, Dusty Baker, and John Gibbons.

Bochy retired following the conclusion of the 2019 season. He won three World Series championships and more than 2,000 games over 25 years of managerial service with the Giants and San Diego Padres.
