The Texas Rangers are among the finalists to land Nicholas Castellanos after a recent meeting with the free-agent outfielder, according to Jon Morosi of MLB.com.

Castellanos left the gathering with a good impression of the Rangers, sources told Morosi.

Texas bolstered its starting rotation this offseason with the additions of right-handers Corey Kluber, Kyle Gibson, and Jordan Lyles. The team is also set to unveil a new ballpark, Globe Life Field, for the 2020 campaign.

Should the Rangers sign Castellanos, the club might move outfielder Joey Gallo to first base, according to Morosi, who also notes that Texas could sign a cheaper option like Todd Frazier to play third and instead move Castellanos to first, keeping Gallo in the outfield.

The seven-year veteran spent 2019 with the Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs. He posted a gaudy 1.002 OPS with 16 home runs across 51 games following a trade to Chicago in late July. Castellanos led the majors with 58 doubles last season.

The Cubs, Chicago White Sox, and San Francisco Giants are also reportedly eyeing his services.
