The contract of New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes was amended last week, which has suddenly made him a popular target in trade discussions.

New York is fielding calls from multiple teams about the 34-year-old, who had his $29.5-million salary for 2020 reduced to less than $10 million, reports Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

A deal remains unlikely due to Cespedes' questionable health, DiComo adds. He also has a no-trade clause attached to his contract, which could complicate matters.

DiComo did not list teams that could be interested in his services.

Cespedes missed the entire 2019 season due to heel and ankle injuries. His contract was reportedly restructured as the result of a grievance the Mets filed against him after investigating an injury he suffered on his ranch last May.

The Cuban slugger is expected to be ready for spring training and recently told Eduardo Perez of MLB Network Radio that he would "be out there for 140-plus games" and "hit 52" home runs.

When healthy, the powerful outfielder could provide an impact bat to any club in the majors.

He's hit 163 career home runs with 524 RBIs across seven big-league seasons and was a major reason the Mets made the World Series in 2015.

After New York acquired him from the Detroit Tigers at the trade deadline that year, he batted .287/.337/.604 with 17 home runs and 44 RBIs in 57 games.

That performance ultimately led him to sign a three-year, $75-million contract with the Mets in January 2016. After opting out of that deal at the end of the 2016 campaign, he re-signed with New York for four years and $110 million.

In four seasons with the Mets, he owns a .282/.346/.543 slash line with 74 homers and 201 RBIs in 308 games.
