Bruce Bochy's retirement didn't last long.

The former longtime San Francisco Giants skipper, who stepped down following the 2019 season, will manage France in its qualifiers for the next World Baseball Classic.

France has never qualified for the event. The next iteration takes place in 2021.

"I've been thinking a while about what's next in my life after managing the Giants," Bochy said in a statement, according to ESPN. "I want to stay involved and give back to baseball. Managing France is a perfect example of how I can help develop the game."

The 64-year-old was born in Landes de Bussac, France, while his father was stationed in the Army.

Bochy managed 25 seasons in the big leagues with the Giants and San Diego Padres. He ranks 11th all time among MLB managers with 2003 wins and also has three World Series titles with San Francisco (2010, 2012, 2014) on his resume.
