The San Francisco Giants signed right-hander Kevin Gausman to a one-year contract, the club announced Tuesday.

Gausman's deal is for $9 million in 2020, a source told Jeff Passan of ESPN.

The 29-year-old could make up to $1 million in bonuses for starting a certain number of games next season, according to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area. Gausman stands to make $250,000 for each particular benchmark he reaches, which will be set at 18, 22, 26, and 30 starts, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.

Gausman posted an ugly 5.72 ERA in 102 1/3 innings (17 starts) while pitching for the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds during the 2019 campaign. However, he also recorded a 3.98 FIP.

The Giants were busy Tuesday, as the club also added veteran third baseman Zack Cozart in a trade with the Los Angeles Angels.
