The Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres will travel south of the border for a two-game series at the Estadio Alfredo Harp Helu in Mexico City, Mexico, on April 18 and 19 in 2020.

It will mark the first regular-season MLB series in Mexico City, the country's capital and North America's most populous city.

MLB has hosted regular-season games in Mexico on five other occasions, including two separate series last year, but all of those games were played in the northern city of Monterrey.

This will mark the Padres' fourth regular-season trip to Mexico, having last played there two years ago. It will be the D-Backs' first visit to the country outside of spring training, and their second set of games outside the United States and Canada following their 2014 series in Sydney, Australia.

The Mexico City games are replacing two Diamondbacks home contests, meaning Arizona will likely serve as the home team. Both teams will be off on the Friday before the series and the Monday afterward.

Estadio Alfredo Harp Helu opened last year and seats 20,000 fans, according to an MLB release. It's the home stadium for Mexican League franchise Diablos Rojos del Mexico.

In addition to the Mexico City games, MLB will host a pair of contests between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals in London, England, from June 13-14.
