Report: Dodgers latest team to join Donaldson pursuit

Third baseman Josh Donaldson is quickly becoming one of the hottest commodities on baseball's free-agent market.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the latest club considering a run at Donaldson, sources told Jorge Castillo of The Los Angeles Times.

There isn't an immediately obvious fit on the depth chart if the Dodgers do sign Donaldson or fellow third baseman Anthony Rendon due to Justin Turner remaining under contract. If Turner gets moved to first base, that leaves Corey Seager, Gavin Lux, and Max Muncy for the final two infield spots.

Still, it could prove to be a good problem to have if Donaldson can live up to his 2019 numbers. The 33-year-old was healthy and appeared in 155 games with the Atlanta Braves, batting .259/.379/.521 with 37 home runs and 94 RBIs.

Donaldson will also carry draft-pick compensation provided he rejects a one-year, $17.8-million qualifying offer from the Braves by Thursday's deadline.

In addition to Atlanta and the Dodgers, Donaldson has already drawn interest from the Washington Nationals, Texas Rangers, and Philadelphia Phillies.
