The New York Yankees will have left-hander CC Sabathia and outfielder Aaron Hicks on their 25-man roster for the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros, the team announced Saturday.

Sabathia, 39, was left off the Yankees' ALDS roster against the Minnesota Twins because of a shoulder issue. The 19-year vet is planning to retire at the end of the season.

Hicks, meanwhile, hasn't played since early August after dealing with a right flexor tendon strain. There was speculation that the 30-year-old might need Tommy John surgery, but Hicks was able to avoid undergoing the procedure.

To make room for Sabathia and Hicks, the Yankees left first baseman Luke Voit and utility man Tyler Wade off the squad. Voit hit 21 home runs and posted a .842 OPS in 118 regular-season contests, but didn't get a single at-bat during the ALDS.

The much-anticipated best-of-seven series starts Saturday night in Houston.
