The San Diego Padres need a new manager and they're reportedly among the teams who've shown interest in Joe Maddon in recent days, sources told MLB Network's Jon Morosi.

The Los Angeles Angels, who were linked to Maddon last week, are also in the mix for his services, Morosi reports.

San Diego is one of the many clubs seeking a new skipper after relieving Andy Green of his managerial duties on Sept. 21. The Padres fired Green after finishing last in the National League West despite committing a combined $444 million to Eric Hosmer and Manny Machado over the past two seasons.

The Angels, Chicago Cubs, Kansas City Royals, New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates, and San Francisco Giants are also without managers.

Maddon is one of the top managerial free agents available. His five seasons in the Windy City included four postseason appearances, two division titles, and a World Series championship in 2016.

The 65-year-old has amassed 1,252 career wins as a big-league manager.
