The New York Yankees will get some key players back for the American League Division Series against the Minnesota Twins.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said slugger Edwin Encarnacion looked good Wednesday in a simulated game and could play first base, though he will likely serve as the designated hitter early in the series, according to Brendan Kuty of NJ.com.
The skipper also said that third baseman Gio Urshela is "good to go," according to Lindsey Adler of The Athletic.
Encarnacion, 36, has been out since mid-September after suffering an oblique strain. The 27-year-old Urshela was removed from Sunday's regular-season finale with a mild ankle sprain.
The veteran slugger was traded to New York from the Seattle Mariners in June and hit 13 home runs to go along with 37 RBIs in 44 games with the Yankees. For his part, Urshela slashed .314/.355/.534 with 21 homers.
Game 1 of the ALDS goes Friday at Yankee Stadium.
