Sano gives Twins MLB-record 5 players with 30 HRs

The Minnesota Twins have slugged their way into yet another record.

Third baseman Miguel Sano joined the 30-homer club Tuesday with a titanic three-run blast off Chicago White Sox pitcher Ross Detwiler.

Sano's 482-foot moon shot - the second-longest by a Twins player in the Statcast era, per MLB.com's Do-Hyoung Park - made him the fifth Twins player to reach 30 homers in 2019, a new major-league record. The previous mark of four was shared by 12 teams and was last done by the 2009 Philadelphia Phillies.

The 2019 Twins already own the record for most players with 20-plus home runs (eight).

Ryan LaMarre also homered for the Twins on Tuesday, bringing their season total to 289. That's currently an MLB record, and is two more than the New York Yankees, who are in a dead heat with Minnesota for the all-time single-season mark.
