New York Yankees reliever Zack Britton was abruptly removed from Saturday's game against the Oakland Athletics after looking into the dugout and signaling for a trainer during the eighth inning.
The left-hander walked off the diamond and into the clubhouse while accompanied by members of the Yankees' coaching staff after a short mound visit.
Britton's injury was diagnosed as a right calf cramp, according to MLB.com's Betelhem Ashame. The team said no tests are currently scheduled.
Right-hander Chad Green took over on the mound.
Britton, 31, owns a 2.15 ERA and 3.99 FIP over 51 2/3 innings so far this season.
The Yankees already set the record for most individual players to hit the injured list in a single season when Gio Urshela became the 29th player to land on the IL on Friday.
