Houston Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow is confident his club will finish the regular season with the most wins in the majors.

"Right now we're half a game behind L.A. for the best record in all of baseball, and I think we are going to pass them," Luhnow said Wednesday on SportsTalk 790's "The Sean Salisbury Show." "I think we are going to pass the Yankees. I think we are going to pass them because you just think about what we are putting out there every night.

"(Josh) Reddick (is) getting hot now and the rest of the guys - you look at the numbers that they have put up since the All-Star break between (Jose) Altuve, Yuli (Gurriel), (Alex) Bregman, (Yordan) Alvarez, and (Michael) Brantley. You got five guys that have all been playing really well since the All-Star Break. Now you throw Reddick now into the mix, hopefully, and bring (Carlos) Correa back and it's going to be a tough team to stop."

The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers enter Wednesday's action tied for the best record in the majors at 87-47, while the Astros sit half a game back at 86-47.

Los Angeles has the best run differential of the three clubs with a +222 mark; Houston sits at +211 and New York is +160.

Houston is 16-7 since bolstering its pitching staff at the trade deadline with the additions of ace Zack Greinke and right-handers Aaron Sanchez and Joe Biagini.
