Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder, manager Torey Lovullo revealed Tuesday.

"David has elected to have surgery on his right shoulder," Lovullo told 98.7 FM's "Burns & Gambo" show. "I don't know what the diagnosis is or what the procedure will be, but his 2019 season is over."

Peralta is expected to be fully recovered in time for spring training in February, Lovullo added.

The Diamondbacks placed Peralta on the 10-day injured list last week with right AC joint inflammation. He also missed three weeks in July due to an inflamed AC joint.

When healthy, the 32-year-old was a productive member of the D-Backs' outfield this season. Peralta ends his year having hit .275/.343/.461 with 12 homers, 29 doubles, and 57 RBIs across 423 plate appearances. He also played stellar outfield defense, as his nine defensive runs saved leads all National League left fielders, according to FanGraphs.

Peralta's injury deals yet another blow to the D-Backs' already fading playoff hopes. They enter Tuesday four games out of the second wild-card spot with only 30 games left and four teams ahead of them.
