Kluber shut down for at least 2 weeks with oblique strain

The expected return of Corey Kluber has hit a bump in the road

The Indians right-hander was diagnosed with an internal oblique strain after he was examined in Cleveland on Tuesday, according to a team announcement.

Kluber will now be shut down from throwing and begin a rehab program. A time frame for his return to game activities has yet to be determined, but the team said he'll be re-examined in two weeks.

The two-time American League Cy Young Award winner was removed from a minor-league rehab start on Sunday after one inning with abdominal tightness.

The veteran hasn't pitched in a big-league game since May 1, when he suffered a non-displaced fracture of his right ulna bone after getting drilled by a comebacker against the Miami Marlins.

Kluber has spent his entire career in Cleveland, authoring a 98-58 record with a 3.16 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP.
