Toronto Blue Jays rookie shortstop Bo Bichette treated fans to quite a show during his home debut Thursday against the New York Yankees.

In the fifth inning, Bichette belted a thunderous two-run blast into the second deck of the Rogers Centre to become the only player in the modern era with 12-plus extra-base hits through his first 11 games, the team announced.

With the homer, Bichette also became the first rookie with an extra-base hit in nine straight games since Ted Williams accomplished the feat in 1939, according to Stats by STATS.

''When I hit the homer, that was the first chills moment I've had in the big leagues so far,'' Bichette said, according to Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic.

An inning later, the 21-year-old smacked an RBI double into right field. It was his ninth consecutive game with a double, which became the longest streak in MLB history, per the Blue Jays. The previous record belonged to Derrek Lee (2007) and Yadier Molina (2016), according to StatsCentre.

"I think I expected to come in here and play well," the rookie sensation added. "I'm hot right now, so I'm putting up numbers and seeing the ball well and being aggressive, so I expect to do well.

"Teams have tried to go in, they've tried to go away, they've tried to throw breaking balls. I'm just seeing the ball pretty well right now."

"We're watching history," manager Charlie Montoyo said following the game, according to McGrath. "That's what we're doing - the doubles and home runs. That's why everybody's saying, 'Wow.' It's been fun to watch."

Since arriving on the major-league scene July 29, Bichette has been one of baseball's hottest hitters. He's now hitting .408 with four home runs, nine doubles, and 20 hits in 49 at-bats.

Toronto drafted the son of former big leaguer Dante in the second round of the 2016 draft.

Despite the historic night from Bichette, the Blue Jays lost 12-6.
