The rebuilding Toronto Blue Jays are expected to be busy leading up to Wednesday's trade deadline, and right-hander Aaron Sanchez could be on the move.
The Blue Jays are getting "lots of hits" on the 27-year-old starter, and there's a real chance he's dealt before 4 p.m. ET, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
It's been a rough year for Sanchez, who hasn't won a start since April 27. He lost 10 straight from May 27 to July 17.
He's pitched much better over his last two starts, however, allowing one earned run across five innings against the Cleveland Indians on July 23, and striking out 10 against the Tampa Bay Rays this past Sunday.
Sanchez was once a highly regarded Blue Jays starter, winning the American League ERA title in 2016. Blister issues and surgery on his right index finger have slowed him since.
In 2019, Sanchez owns a 3-14 record with a 6.07 ERA and 1.69 WHIP. He's allowed a career-high 10.5 hits per nine innings, and the veteran is also walking 4.7 batters per nine this season.
