Nick Markakis' fractured left wrist will sideline him until mid-September, the Atlanta Braves announced Saturday, according to Gabriel Burns of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
"It's just a matter of time to let the bone heal," Braves manager Brian Snitker said. "I would say with a guy like that, if you give him an estimated time, he'd probably beat it back. But it is what it is. Just needs time to heal."
The Braves placed the veteran outfielder on the 10-day injured list Saturday. In a corresponding move, the team recalled outfielder Adam Duvall ahead of Saturday's game. He got the start in left field with Ender Inciarte in center and Ronald Acuna Jr. in right.

Prior to the injury, Markakis was hitting .284/.358/.429 with nine home runs and 55 RBIs. A first-time All-Star in 2018, Markakis has become an important part of the Braves' offense.
The injury also puts an end to an impressive stretch of durability. Markakis had appeared in every single regular-season game since the beginning of 2018. He's also played in at least 147 games in every season but one (2012) dating back to his rookie campaign in 2006.
