David Ortiz has taken another step forward in his recovery from being shot earlier this month in the Dominican Republic.

Ortiz's wife, Tiffany, provided an encouraging update Saturday in a statement released by the Boston Red Sox.

"David was moved out of the intensive care unit at Massachusetts General Hospital. He remains in good condition and continues to recover under the care of Drs. David King and Larry Ronan," the statement reads.

On Wednesday, Dominican Republic attorney general Jean Alain Rodriguez said Ortiz was not the intended target of the shooting, despite previous reports suggesting it was a coordinated attack on the 43-year-old.

Police have made multiple arrests since the incident but are still looking for more suspects, including the man authorities believe planned the attack.
