It was bound to happen.

Houston Astros right-hander Ryan Pressly had his consecutive scoreless appearances streak end at 40 games on Friday thanks to an eighth-inning home run by Boston Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr.

On May 17, Pressly broke Craig Kimbrel's record of 38 straight scoreless appearances, which the closer set in 2011.

In his lone inning of work Friday, Pressly allowed one earned run, two hits, and walked a batter while striking out three.

Pressly had last allowed a regular-season run on Aug. 10, 2018. The walk was his first of the season and the home run was the first he's allowed since his Astros debut on July 28, 2018.

Bradley's home run also ended Pressly's streak of consecutive scoreless innings at 39, which now stands as the Astros' franchise record, according to ESPN Stats & Info.
