The banged-up New York Yankees could have another player join the injury pile after Saturday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Right-hander Masahiro Tanaka was drilled in the lower body by a 111.3-mph line drive during the sixth inning and was forced to exit the game after speaking with a trainer.

Tanaka was diagnosed with a right shin contusion after X-rays came back negative.

Following New York's 2-1 extra-innings loss to Tampa Bay, Tanaka said he's unsure if he will make his next start.

"It's a bruise. There is some swelling and some blueness to it," Tanaka said.

"I can't say for now. We'll see how it is tomorrow and we can evaluate how to move forward from there."

Tanaka's ERA dropped to 3.09 following Saturday's performance, in which he allowed zero runs and three hits.

The Yankees have already lost Miguel Andujar for the season, and are without 12 others, including James Paxton, Aaron Judge, and Giancarlo Stanton.
