Major League Baseball fined San Diego Padres second baseman Ian Kinsler for using profane language on the field after hitting a home run Thursday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, sources told Scott Miller of Bleacher Report.

It's believed he was fined between $7,500 and $10,000, sources told Miller.

Kinsler launched the game-winning three-run homer Thursday and let out what looked to be a barrage of F-bombs upon crossing home plate. It appeared as though he was directing the cursing at Padres fans, though Kinsler denied this was the case.

Before Friday's game, Kinsler expressed some remorse for the incident, wishing he'd let the expletives fly in the dugout and not on the field in front of his home crowd.

"The only thing that I do regret is doing it on the field in front of everybody, so everyone can interpret it their own way," Kinsler said about the incident, according to The Associated Press, via ESPN.

When asked if he wanted to respond to angry Padres fans who believed he was swearing at them, Kinsler responded: "No."

"He's come out and said directly who he intended it for. I take him at his word on that," manager Andy Green said. "For us, we understand how that appears to people in that moment, and we don't want to give off that impression. We take ownership over that. As an organization, we've apologized for that. We intend to move on from that."

Kinsler started Friday's game against Pittsburgh at second base and heard a few boos from the Petco Park faithful before his first at-bat. Despite recording one hit Friday, some Padres fans continued to boo him in his subsequent plate appearances.

The 36-year-old signed a two-year, $8-million deal with San Diego during the offseason. He's off to a slow start this year, hitting .179/.235/.341 across 132 plate appearances.
