The New York Yankees have placed Miguel Andujar back on the 10-day injured list with a right labrum tear, the same injury that forced the third baseman to miss all of April, the team announced Monday.

Andujar's return from the IL lasted a total of nine games before the third baseman was sidelined once again. Over those 35 plate appearances, the 24-year-old posted an abysmal .088/.114/.088 slash line while primarily playing DH.

In a corresponding move, left-hander Nestor Cortes Jr. has been recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where the 24-year-old has posted a 4.54 ERA and 3.89 FIP over 33 2/3 innings this season over five starts and one relief appearance. Cortes came up earlier this campaign and allowed three runs on four hits over two innings pitched.

Andujar avoided undergoing surgery during his first IL stint, but manager Aaron Boone didn't dismiss the possibility this time around when probed about it Monday, stating "I wouldn't say it's necessarily off the table," according to The Athletic's Lindsey Adler.
