Oakland Athletics left-hander Brett Anderson has been in the major leagues for a long time, a fact that was hammered home to him Saturday.
Anderson became the first pitcher to face both Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and his Hall of Fame father, Vladimir Guerrero Sr. when he squared off with the Toronto Blue Jays phenom.
"I got up when I was fairly young and you just made me feel old," Anderson told Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
The 31-year-old faced Guerrero Sr. five times, including three times as a rookie in 2009. He held the former American League MVP to one hit - a single - and an RBI.
Anderson's success against the family continued Saturday as Guerrero Jr. went 0-for-2 with a strikeout and walk versus the veteran left-hander.
Unfortunately for Anderson, the other eight Blue Jays hitters teed off on his pitching, as he allowed six runs in 4 1/3 innings during a 7-1 Toronto victory.
