San Francisco Giants outfielder Gerardo Parra exited Monday's game in the eighth inning after a pitch from San Diego Padres reliever Brad Wieck hit him near the face.

The 93-mph fastball glanced off Parra's shoulder before striking him in the jaw. Parra was unable to turn out of the way, and he spent several minutes on the ground face down while trainers tended to him, according to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Eventually, Parra left the field and walked back to the dugout with a towel held to his face, and pinch runner Derek Holland replaced him.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy relayed good news after the game, telling reporters that Parra suffered a cut lip, but he's otherwise OK and should be available to play on Tuesday, according to Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com.
The 11-year MLB veteran owns a .200/.294/.233 slash line (6-for-30) with two RBIs, two walks, and nine strikeouts through 10 games this season.
San Francisco lost to the Padres 6-5.
