The Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to a contract with veteran free-agent reliever Bud Norris, a source told Craig Mish of SiriusXM.
It's a minor-league deal, reports Sportsnet's Shi Davidi.
If he makes the team, Norris will earn a salary of $3 million, and can also make another $1.25 million in incentives, according to Robert Murray of The Athletic.
Norris, who turns 34 on March 2, served as the closer for the St. Louis Cardinals last season. He posted a 3.59 ERA (109 ERA+), 3.99 FIP, 10.5 strikeouts per nine innings, and 28 saves in 64 appearances with the Cardinals.
In Toronto, he'll add additional bullpen depth - possibly in multiple roles - and potentially serve as setup man for closer Ken Giles.
After beginning his career as a starter for several teams, including the 2014 AL East champion Baltimore Orioles, Norris moved to the bullpen on a full-time basis two years ago. He appears to have found a home there, saving 19 games for the Los Angeles Angels in 2017 before joining St. Louis.
Norris owns a career 67-90 record with a 4.45 ERA, 1,153 strikeouts, and 47 saves across 355 appearances (188 starts) with seven teams.
