The St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to a four-year, $68-million extension with pitcher Miles Mikolas, reports MLB Network's Jon Heyman, who adds the deal can reach $70 million in total value.
The reported deal will also include full no-trade protection but does not include any options or opt-outs, reports MLB Network's Jon Morosi.
St. Louis is expected to announce the extension at a press conference Tuesday.
The extension begins in 2020 and runs through 2023, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
After spending 2015-17 pitching in Japan, Mikolas returned to MLB with the Cardinals before the 2018 season.
In his first year with St. Louis, the 30-year-old tied for the National League lead in wins with 18.
He accompanied his sparkling win-loss record with a 2.83 ERA and 3.28 FIP in 200 2/3 innings.
On Saturday, Mikolas was named the Cardinals' Opening Day starter.
It's been a productive offseason for the Cardinals, who traded for Paul Goldschmidt and signed Andrew Miller in December. St. Louis also inked Jose Martinez to a two-year, $3.25-million contract extension three days ago.
